Arm Lift
Treatment overview
If you are concerned about loose skin on your upper arms, or loss of contour to the arm, you could be a suitable candidate for an arm lift.
As part of the ageing process, the skin of our upper arms begins to sag and fold, creating a loose section of skin that can hang from the arm when it is horizontal (colloquially known as a ‘bingo wing’). This condition can also occur in younger people after significant weight loss – the skin, which was stretched by weight gain, does not recover as the weight is rapidly lost. Bodily skin is less elastic than that of the face, and does not tend to spring back as easily. Loose skin on the upper arms can be corrected by a brachioplasty, in which excess skin and fatty tissue are removed. This is combined with liposuction of the inner arms.

That said, those patients who have lost a considerable amount of weight, and whose ‘bingo wings’ are pronounced and unsightly, arm lift surgery can play an important role is bringing balance back to their body shape and restoring confidence. Brachioplasty is often performed in conjunction with other body contouring procedures such as liposuction of the inner thighs. Combining procedures reduces overall downtime and expense.
